With the development of the social steps,an increasing number of people tend to care more about their living standards.More focuses are put on not only food, but also every aspects of people’s life, such as entertainment and transportation.Simultaneously,a public debate that whether we should pay for the public transportation has recently caused wide public concern. Some residents, especially taxpayers in the suburbs, consider that it is better to be free that can reduce the traffic jams because of less private cars. However, from my point, people should still pay for the public transportation.
To start with, paying for public transportation can put the traffic system in order.Just imagine what would be like if it is free for people to take the public taxies or buses. There is no denying that it will be overloading because more and more people will be willing to queue for a ticket in a long line. The secure problem also should take into consideration while the public transportation becomes overcrowded.Another problem is that the older and the disabled will get less chance to have a seat.Paying the proper fare can limit the number of passengers, which will highly motivate the development of the city traffic system.
In addition, more benefits can be obtained with the fare paid by passengers.Government can use that money not only to prove the quality of the public transportation, but also to buy some new high-tech transportation, which is eco-friendly that has less pollution to the environment. So making it free will mean forgoing hundreds of millions of dollars per year, and all money which could go into making the system better, which is the real key to getting more people using it.
