在这种情况下是不可以用后者的.
其实这是一个省略格式,还原后就好理解了.
a friend of my brother's friends.
是指多个朋友里的其中一个.因为前面已有了friend ,后面的一个就省了.
另注意这双重的所有格所有的不是同一个东西,前者of指friend,后面的's指friends.是这样的双重,而不是重复使用.
其实,如用a friend of my brother 在意义上是没有区别的.都可以互换.只是之前没有人这么用.后来有的国外人搞不清了,都这么用,中国教学得一看外国人这么用,就想有什么区别,有的人就想出了一些区别.正规语法就是a friend of my brother's.这与 a picture of Li 与a picture of Li's.的用法是不同的.后两个会有区别.
以前教学是这样区分的.a friend of my brother's,象这种要加's.
in the front of the class.是不用加's.
以前的改错题:就有a friend of me.是不对的.一定是a friend of mine.因为of在这表范围.my friends(略写friends后)=mine.所以用me是不对的.a picture of Li.of 在此却表示性质.与 a picuture of Li's.中的of 不同.所以有人将两者同等.其实是两个不同的of.
因此 a friend of my brother,这种说法不规格,用得人多了,就合法了.就这样.以后有人说a friend of me.说多了,我想也会演变成规格语法.
