The nature of Light,duality of wave and particle properties
In 1801,Thomas Young\s double-slit experiment demonstrated conclusively the diffraction patterns cause by constructive and destructive interference.
De Broglie,French scientist,in 1924,hypothesized that if a wave like light can have particle properties,why can not particles like electrons,pontoon,and so on have wave properties; We can understand De Broglie hypothesis by equation the expresson E=mc2,E= hν,λ = h/p,p= h/λ;
In 1925,Clinton Joshph Davisson did just that Award of De Broglie idea,Davisson (with coworker Lester H.Germer) expored a nickel crystal to electrons and found a diffraction pattern exactly as one would expect if electrons were indeed waves.
Additional work confirming the wave nature of electrons was performed later that year by G.P.Thomson,the son of J.J.Thomson,who in 1897 had discovered the electron as a particle.They both received the Nobel Prize.
The wave-particle dual nature of particles(as well as photos) has been a cornerstone of modern science.
Werner Karl Heisenberg(1901-1976),Heisenberg uncertainty principle completely changed the way science understands the limitations in the ability to measure nature.In World War II,Heisenberg was in charge of the German atomic bomb project,which he apparently purposely delayed to minimize the chance that the Nazis would develop an atomic bomb.In 1927,Heisenberg announced uncertainty principle.

Max Born(1882~1970).His interpretation of the wavefunction as a probability rather than an actuality changed the common understanging of quantum mechanics.The Born interpretation affects the entire meaning of quantum mechanics.Instead of ψ giving the exact location of an electron,it will provide only the probability of the location of an electron.
